Stephen Hamilton-Box BA (Hons), MMus.

Teaching 

Stephen has been teaching for nearly 30 years- he is a qualified teacher and has taught the whole school age range from Reception to Year 13. He has been Head of Music in four schools during a varied career that also includes teaching A level music at The King's School, Rochester, singing for Lincolnshire County Council Music Support Service, the piano at Sutton Valence School, small  independent schools and large state schools. He has succesfully prepared children for cathedral and collegiate chapel chorister scholarships, university and The British Army (Kneller Hall).

 

 As Head of Music at Neale-Wade Community College in March, Cambs. a large school of 1800 he oversaw 5 examination courses including GCSE and A level music, two choirs, orchestra, concert band, junior brass, junior strings, junior woodwind ensembles along with various other ad hoc groups- they were regular winners at the Peterborough Music Festival. Aside from the regular round of Christmas and Summer Concerts, carol singing, A level Recitals and school shows, Stephen took his choir to sing Choral Evensong at Peterborough and Ely Cathedrals and project managed a large scale international educational event for as part of Comenius with the renowned composer Alan Bullard; three days of choral, instrumental and composing workshops culminated with a concert in Peterborough Cathedral.

 

Stephen also qualified as a BTEC Performing Arts Level 3 Lead Verifier.

 

Stephen has a 100% pass rate with ABRSM singing exams.

 

Stphen's teaching philosophy is "Engage, Educate, Equip" 1© . Pupils need to be interested in what they are learning, they  need to be taught, not just entertained and they  need to be equiped with skills and knowledge that will allow them to progress.
